About Hemp

What is hemp?  

Hemp or Industrial hemp is and Industrial form of cannabis that has many known uses, typically as food source, medicine, building material, rope, clothing and more.  Its is known to have over 50,000 uses.

Unlike other forms of cannabis hemp is very low in tetrahydrocannabinol, the molecule that is famously known to get you high. To find out more read our blog post What is Hemp?

Can hemp get you high? 

No.  Hemp is low in tetrahydrocannabinol, the only molecule in cannabis that can get you high. Typically hemp plants are <1% tetrahydrocannabinol. Also, there are only minute (if any) traces of tetrahydrocannabinol in hemp foods.

Why is hemp food healthy? 

As a food source hemp is know as one of the most nutritious food sources on the planet.  It has an array of vitamins and minerals, high in antioxidants and uniquely contains all 9 amino acids, making it a complete protein

Is your hemp grown in Australia?  

All our hemp is grown in Australia and the majority of our hemp is grown by farmers in Tasmania.  Our best of breed farmers, fertile soils and cool climate enable us to produce the highest quality hemp.

What is hemp seed oil

  • Hemp seed oil is extracted by cold pressing hemp seed. It does not contain cannabidiol. Hemp seed oil contains the Omega 6:3 ratio of fish oil and is the perfect plant-based alternative for people wanting a more sustainable oil as it doesn't come with the heavy metals or ecological impact of fish oil.

What can I use Hemp Seed Oil for? 

Hemp seed oil can be used as a dietary supplement, by taking the capsules or a tablespoon each morning and/or night. Hemp Seed Oil can be added to smoothies, salad dressings and more. See our recipes for inspiration!

Are Terpenes legal in Australia?

Yes, our terpenes are legal and are derived from plants other than cannabis.

Why aren't you using hemp derived terpenes?

It is currently illegal to source terpene from hemp or cannabis in Australia.

Tell me more about the ECS Botanics Terpene blend?

What is Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil and why are the terpenes mixed with this particular oil?

Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil is the scientific name for hemp seed oil, which is a legal food product. Hemp seed oil is
one of the world healthiest oils and is a great carrier for our
Terpene blends. Hemp Seed Oil is high in Omega 3 EHA and
DHA. It is also high in alpha linolenic acid (ALA) Alpha lipoic acid has strong antioxidant properties, which may reduce
inflammation and skin aging, promote healthy nerve function,
lower heart disease risk factors, and slow the progression of
memory loss disorders.

What is the recommended dosage of the ECS Terpenes blends?

While a dosage guide is provided, it is recommended to start small and increase dosage as required to build the desired effect. More education material about terpenes in oil can be found online by scanning the product QR Code on each bottle.

How long do the effects of terpenes last?

The lasting effect depends largely on the person and dosage.

Does temperature effect terpenes?

Store below 25 C. Protect from light. Prolonged high temperatures and exposure to light can cause the terpenes to decay. This may lead to a decline in their wellness effects.
